Experience hockey in the land of Vikings, where winter is a way of life and outdoor culture is unmatched.

Norway offers stunning fjords, northern lights, modern cities, and a society that values equality and quality of life above almost everything else.

The hockey community is passionate, and you'll be playing in one of the world's happiest and most prosperous countries. It's expensive, but Norwegians earn good wages to match, and the natural beauty is genuinely spectacular.

Ex-pat Friendliness:

Very High
Norwegians speak exceptional English as a second language, often better than some native speakers. The culture is welcoming though sometimes reserved- import players find communication seamless both on and off the ice.

Cost of Living:

High End
Norway sits up pretty high on the list in terms of cost of living. Players in the main leagues here aren't seeing most of these costs though as the clubs they play for cover them.

Weather/Climate:

Nordic Adventure
Coastal areas have surprisingly mild winters (28-40°F/-2 to 4°C) due to the Gulf Stream but inland regions are much colder. Long dark winters balanced by endless summer days. Snow is likely in the winter months.

Proximity of Travel:

Nordic Explorer

Sweden is next door, Denmark is accessible via ferry or flight.

Within Norway, you can explore dramatic fjords, various Islands, the northern lights, and much more.

Hockey Culture:

Established

Norway's hockey scene is passionate, though it sits a little bit in the shadow of the country's skiing (cross country) obsession internationally.

The hockey in the main leagues is quite competitive, facilities are good, and Norwegian fans genuinely love the sport.

Leagues

Norway's top league is called Eliteserien. Under this, you have 1 divisjon (Norway2), 2 divisjon (Norway3), and 3 divisjon (Norway4).

There's also a mix of youth/junior tiers which have tiers up through Norway U20 level.
