These leagues are so different in location and style of play. Head to head, the KHL is the stronger of the two and is quite on par (or slightly above) the AHL which sits a level above the ECHL. The ECHL is a grinder of a league with a lot of guys fighting to earn their way up mixed in with a few token fighters. The KHL is the premier league outside of the NHL and Russians best alongside worldclass imports play here which makes the caliber quite high.
